Hump Day

Friends and I on HUMP DAY!

Quote of of the post:

"The truth is not some little birdy jumping on your shoulder with joy, the truth hurts." - Unknown

Well as you all know that yeasterday was hump day! It was pretty great day at school besides it being COLD all day! However the sun was shining bright and made it a pretty day. I only had 4 classes yeasterday because my visual arts class was cancelled! I have Biology homework which sucks tremendously but I have to do it! My roommates and friends went to see a motivational speaker last night. It was okay, but more of a history lesson. I figured there would be somethings he would discuss but he didn't! He yet fail to discuss the drop out rate of African American students in the United States. It's a pretty sad issue, but it starts at home. However he did say instead of trying to help someone you first need to know their history. I totally agreed with him on that one! The high drug rate is another thing America is suffering for. The guy said that honestly he would rather sell drugs than work at McDonalds! I TOTALLY disagreed with him on that one. I believe that you should work for what you want, nothing in life should be free and easy. Thats the bad impact on our environment, everyone wants to live the microwaveable life where everything is fast and easy. And in that life their able to go buy themselves a new car with 24 inch rims, and screens all in it. Who actually cares about that? Grow up and be a man about it! DO WORK! I know a lot of people that live on the system that are driving nice cars, and live freely in their government apartment. For people that actually needs the help I understand, but people that free load aggrivates me the mostk and its sad because I know a few. My family has always worked for what we want, kinda what my Mother has always taught me. I am from a middle class working family. I know what it is like to work and I'm glad I work for everything. I appreciate more! It's funny because many young adults have to wrong conception about life! I'm glad my Mom didn't always give me what I want, because now I know you can have everything, but not all at once. One of my scholarships were reduced, it kind of ticked me off! I felt ungrateful and angry, although I had enough money to pay my bills I wanted more. I then realized that I shouldn't be greedy, and that I will just have to work a little more to get a little more. The Lord will bless me I know he will, because i've made it this far through him and I'm going to keep on. Anyhow tonight I plan to attend the Black & Gold Pageant with my friends, and i'll upload pictures later! Have a good day!

Love Always,

BlackBerry Picture!

My first day back to school was yeasterday, and I went comfortable but still nice. It was an awesome first day back I must say! School will be challenging this semester because I'm taking mostly major courses with biology. I suck at MATH and SCIENCE! It's just not for me! However the sun was shining bright but it was still cool. I love weather like that.

I completely LOVE Khloe Kardashian for this one!

Well Obviously people in this world are closed mind individuals! They don't have any respect for others or their choices. It's not their life but they still seem to criticize others. Well Ms. Khloe Kardashian has had enough! This is her response that she wrote on her blog (http://www.khloekardashian.celebuzz.com/):

I've told you all before that I read EVERY single one of your comments, and I try as often as I can to respond. Recently though my site has been bombarded with cruel and unnecessary remarks about race and I can't sit back and keep my mouth shut any longer.

I personally am shocked that in this day and age people are still so judgmental and racist -- it blows my mind! I was raised to believe that all people are created and viewed as equals and never judged by something as meaningless as the color of their skin! I guess I am blessed to have parents that didn't brainwash me and cloud my thoughts with their petty views. I was raised to judge a person by their spirit and heart. I base my opinions of people by how they treat me and others. Point blank!

How does one person's color, weight, height, language define who they are? It is sad that people are so mean and so willing to promote their ridiculous views! It's almost like they think it's cool to be racist and prejudiced. Leaving comments like that are just wrong!

I love all my fans, I really do! And I love when you guys defend your opinions but I can only read so much foolishness before I feel I have to say something. I hate erasing comments that you guys post because I want you all to feel like your voices are valid but some comments are so brutally heartless that I have to get rid of them.

I feel like I am playing a game that I can never win -- if I hung out solely with my own race then I myself would be considered racist and someone would comment on that issue. If I have friends of all different races, then what? Is that unacceptable too?

I have friends of all different races and ethnicities and I am blessed to be exposed to so many different cultures -- I wouldn't change it for the world. If I want to date a man that treats me great, then I will! I don't care what color his skin is as long as I am treated and loved the way I want. If I want to be friends with someone who is loyal and lives up to my expectations of a friend, then I will! I don't care what she looks like.

People, we have so many other things in this world to focus on. Get a life! And if you don't like who my friends are or if you don't like who I am dating then get off my website! It's that simple!

I have so much respect for Khloe! It's her life she can date anyone she wants to!!

Content with Life!

Quote of the Post:

"When it comes down to it, I let them think what they want. If they care enough to bother with what I do, then I'm already better than them anyways.”-Marilyn Monroe

Ok... So I'm just sitting here evaluating my life, and thinking about my future. First of all it's 2009, so all the drama or bad experiences I had last year is dunzo! I'm so over it. I realize now that I barely communicate with my classmates. I do understand that it takes 2 people to make conversation, so I do not feel bad anymore. However I'm content with my life at the moment. I am a VERY independent individual, I work, I'm in School, and my social life is amazing with my few good friends. I rather have a few good friends, than a lot of fake ones. Everything I have I worked hard to get, and I will not stop until I make it to the top! I do understand that I have matured so much. I'm able to accept failure happens in everyone life, and i've learned from a lot of mistakes. I've also learned from a lot of people mistakes as well. I do know that each and every day I will smile because I deserve to. I have come a long way from where I started. All the negative things in my life are no longer there. I'm very proud of myself because I am livng my dream. After my first and last year at SFA, I realized that I had a blast those 9 months there, but thats not the place for me. That was the best decision I think I made. I was dealing with a lot of fake people there in which it took the absence of my real friends to make me realize that. I went home for a year, and learned some valuable lessons. I knew I didn't want to live there for the rest of my life. I worked 2 jobs and attended college part time. In that process I changed my major to something that I really wanted to do. Journalism/PR is the right job for me. Very competitive major right? Well guess what.... I'm not afraid of a challenge. I know it's people out there that are ready for me to fall on my face. "Inside of a ring or out, ain't nothing wrong with going down. It's staying down that's wrong." -Muhammad Ali. This quote helps me get through a lot of challenges that I face. It makes me want to take risks, because you miss one hundred percent of the shots you do not take. I took a risk by moving to Houston, not really knowing many people. I really miss my family, because I feel like I'm the one that keeps us stronger, and on track. It was a good risk that I took because I've met so many new people, and learned so many new things. I know how to survive on my own, trust me I'm not your average college student. I'm not starving for anything, Whatever I want I pretty much get although it may take time. I had good grades last semester, but this semester I want to make the Dean's List. I know I can do it, I will just have to study a little harder. I think it's going to be a great semester, because I love springtime. I think 2009 is going to be a great year for me. I plan on excersising more so I can live a more healthier life. I plan on buying 2 new shirts a week lol instead of shopping all at once. I plan on interning this summer for a local magazine in which I hope I get it. One of my good friends is expecting and I'm happy for her. Ashlee is moving to Houston, and I'm very happy about that! I love the fact that regardless of the negative things people say about someone I can not believe it. I have realized that you will never know anyone unless you have been their friend first. This is so true people, because I was mislead about one of my good friends. I was told negative and things about them and because I didn't know them I believed it. Well that was all a lie and I'm glad I know who they really are. As I leave you I want to say that be ORIGINAL, because a orignal copy is worth more than a copy! God Bless....

Plane Lands in Hudson River

All 155 passengers on the US Airways flight from LaGuardia to Charlotte that crashed in the Hudson River today are alive and well (one victim did suffer two broken legs but is doing well at this time). Pilots cite running into a flock of geese as the cause of the failed engines and crash. One person noted: [The pilot] had 2,900 ft., which translates to about 80 seconds, to survey the situation, devise a plan, and carry it out…. landing on water… framed by 12 million people… with NO power and limited control… without anyone getting seriously injured.

Eating with your stomach, not with your eyes

(CNN) -- It's halfway through January and your initial enthusiasm for those fitness resolutions may be waning.

After maintaining an austere, healthy diet for a few weeks, the desire to eat a juicy cheeseburger proves too irresistible for some dieters.
"It's natural that most people when they are following a New Year's resolution or any program to change something in their life, that they will fall off the wagon or they'll have a setback or a failure," said Jillian Michaels, a personal trainer for NBC's show "The Biggest Loser."
Rather than beating yourself up after having a setback, learn from the missteps, experts say.
It's a matter of attitude, Michaels said. Learn from the setbacks and view "a failure as a point of learning, an opportunity to see what works and what doesn't."
For those grappling with diets, striving for moderation is a constant battle.

"We eat with our eyes, not out of our stomach," said Dr. Melina Jampolis, the diet and fitness expert for CNNhealth.com. "It's much more difficult to control serving sizes."
People have a tendency to keep eating until their plate is clean or the container of cookies is empty.
"A lot of people eat too much and their clothes feel tight. You shouldn't have to unbutton your pants, blouse or unzip anything after your meal," Cheryl Forberg the nutritionist for "The Biggest Loser." "You lose sight of your body's natural hunger cues."

To become more attuned to your body, avoid eating while standing up, sitting at the desk or inside a car, she said. Dedicate time for meals and snacks.
Rather than viewing meals as an obligatory part of the day, "learn to enjoy the process. At the same time, you begin to stop eating when you're comfortable, instead of when you have to unzip your jeans," Forberg said.
Avoid stocking problem foods like cookies or ice cream in the house if you know you can't resist them.

"When you know you have a weakness with chocolate or cookies, you probably shouldn't keep it in the house if you know you can't stop at one," she said. One way to retrain the body is to divide snacks by portion sizes.
"Those 100-calories packs retrain people to the eye and decrease the snacking," Jampolis said.
"It's more expensive and not environmentally friendly, but you're much better off getting a 100-calorie pack rather than eating out of container."
"If you're on a budget and you want to be more environmentally friendly, make your own. Every Sunday, measure 100 calories into seven Ziploc bags," she said. You can even recycle the bags.

Steps to trim calories and waistline

(CNN) -- Losing weight and getting healthy isn't easy, but it's often the little things that add up over time. Here are some things you may want to avoid and some you should include in your diet if your resolution is to lose weight and feel fine in 2009.

1. Sideline the salad dressing
A quarter-cup of dressing equals 25 to 30 grams of fat. If you eat three salads with dressing per week, that is the equivalent of a stick of butter per week (52 sticks of butter per year), which can not only increase your risk of heart disease and high cholesterol, it could lead to a 12-pound gain. Instead, keep dressing on the side, and dip your fork in it before every bite.

2. Say no to cheese and mayo
They may not seem that relevant, but if you have a tablespoon of mayo and a slice of cheese on your sandwich five days a week, you could gain almost 15 pounds a year! Go for mustard or even hummus to add flavor.

3. Limit sugar-filled juices, "waters" and sodas
Drinking just three 16-ounce drinks per week equals 52 extra cups of sugar (or 23 pounds of sugar) per year and could lead to an 11.5-pound gain.

4. Watch out for hidden sugars
You may think you are being healthy by eating breakfast cereal, fruit-flavored yogurt, smoothies and even spaghetti sauce, but you may be getting an extra 20 teaspoons of sugar each day with these types of food if you aren't careful.

5. Cut down on fast food
Even "healthier" items like salads are loaded with salt and fat. And some moderate-calorie items like a breakfast biscuit sandwich have more than five times the suggested upper limit of trans fats, the absolute worst kind for your heart. In addition, 77 percent of the salt in our diet comes from processed and fast food, not the salt that we add to food.
So resolve to cut back on fast food and save yourself thousands of calories, artery-clogging grams of fat and blood pressure-raising milligrams of salt.

6. Mix fresh with frozen
Frozen meals are super-convenient but often loaded with salt and sometimes even deadly trans fats. So make sure to include fresh food (especially fruits and vegetables that are high in potassium) with frozen whenever possible so the potassium can balance out the damaging effects of the salt. And be sure to avoid trans fats as much as possible: Look on the ingredient list for the words "partially hydrogenated," and if it is anywhere near the top of the list, skip that food.

7. Go slightly nuts
Nuts used to be on most dieters' "no-no" list, but they are a great food to include if you are trying to lose weight and get healthy. They can help you lose weight, reduce cholesterol and reduce your risk of diabetes. Just make sure to keep portions under control. And nut butter is OK, too.

8. Boost fiber intake
Fiber is great for dieters, because it fills you up with fewer calories. In addition, it can decrease the risk of heart disease and diabetes, so resolve to boost your fiber intake with foods like whole-grain bread, oatmeal, beans and low-sugar cereals.

9. Spice things up
Spices not only make foods taste better without adding hundreds of calories, some may help you lose weight (cayenne pepper boosts metabolism), control blood sugar (cinnamon) and even fight cancer (curry powder).

10. Dark chocolate is OkResearch shows that eating dark chocolate can help you cut calories and control cravings. I tell my chocolate-loving patients to plan on eating a piece or two of dark chocolate for dessert every night, and this usually helps them resist temptation later. In addition, dark chocolate is a great source of heart-healthy antioxidants called polyphenols.

11. Drink green tea
Research shows that drinking about three cups of green tea can boost metabolism and increase fat burning. Green tea is also a great source of antioxidants, which can help fight inflammation associated with being overweight. So sip a few cups throughout the day, and you'll probably look and feel better!
Coffee is OK in moderation, and the caffeine boosts metabolism, too! Just make sure not to add cream and sugar, which can add hundreds of calories per day.

12. Eat low-fat protein
Low-fat protein is a dieter's dream for several reasons. It controls hunger better than carbohydrates or fat. It can help keep blood sugar stable when combined with carbs, which keeps energy levels more stable, and it requires more calories to digest, so it may boost metabolism slightly (every little thing adds up). So make sure you get small amounts throughout the day, and it will make losing weight a lot more manageable (examples: chicken, eggs, cottage cheese, tuna, Greek yogurt, etc.)

13. Downsize your latte and skip the second cocktail
Making these two simple changes can save you 250 calories per day and can help you lose (or not gain) up to 26 pounds per year!

14. Start with soup
High-water foods like soup help you feel fuller with fewer calories. Research shows that starting a meal with soup can help you cut calories effortlessly. Just choose low-salt varieties, or make your own.

Just Let it go....

Quote of the Post:

"If you wait to do everything until you're sure it's right, you'll probably never do much of anything.”

ABOUT ME:

Today was pretty interesting day I must say. I had a good day at work, but it ended up sad. Today my good friend Lizz Ask me to drive her to the airport on Saturday Morning, because she's moving to Florida. I'm sad because she's like the best co worker ever and i'm glad we have developed a friendship like we have. However afterwork I went home to rest a little and spend some me time in my room. While reading the January issue of ELLE I realized how everyone in the world is on a diet. It's like the thing to do in January, February, March, April, May, June, and July. Just as soon as fall hit everyone is back to gaining weight again, because spring break is over, and so is summer vacation. Well I plan to lose 20 lbs this year, but eating the way I do I just do not see it happening. Tomorrow I officially start my diet.
